1. “Howling III: The Marsupials (1987)” movie review.

On a technical level, "Howling 3" is a noticeable step up from its predecessor, even containing some legitimate good stuff. My problem is that even the filmmakers don't seem to know what kind of movie they wanted to make. A comedy? Horror? Arthouse? Romance? Environmentalist propaganda? Exploitation? It's too much of all of these genres to satisfy as any one of them!
  2. “The Babadook (2014)” movie review.

"The Babadook" is really a terse family drama dressed as a horror flick, although I don't want you to assume that it's not scary. This movie can actually be very terrifying, but it's less about ghosts jumping out at you and more about the psychological deterioration of its protagonist- which is either being caused by the specter or is the cause of the specter.
  3. “Rabid (1977)” movie review.

I can't say that "Rabid" is a great movie. If anything, I thought it was rather crude and shallow despite Cronenbergs attempts at sexually charged symbolism and social commentary. Yet I was also taken aback by the ambition and creativity, even though I should be used to this from Cronenberg by now.
  4. “It Follows (2015)” movie review.

I love "It Follows" for its individuality, as it has a unique story, visual style and even the character writing and scare tactics were somewhat unconventional. But above everything, I thought it was pretty damn scary!
  5. “The Grandmaster (2013)” movie review.

"The Grandmaster" contains enough brilliance to be worth watching, but It's not brilliant itself. Kar Wai Wong delivered more than enough when it came to creative visual ideas, which were magnificently realized by Philippe Le Sourd (the cinematographer) and those who were in charge of costuming, sets, music composition, etc. The problem is that the sloppy narrative cannot sustain Kar Wai Wong's ambitions.
  6. “Kiss of the Damned (2012)” movie review.

The problem with “Kiss of the Damned” is it aims to please the arthouse crowd, but it’s not good enough to really be considered a high brow film. Still, as far as erotic vampire films go, it was pretty erotic…You'll either like or loathe it. I'm still not sure what I feel myself.
  7. “The Lords of Salem (2012)” movie review.

"The Lords of Salem" is either an incomprehensible- but aesthetically attractive- mess which drowns under its own madness, or it's a haunting masterpiece- albeit a flawed one- which manages to drown its audience under its own madness...but in a good way? The arthouse touches, creative scare tactics, spooky sound design and surreal imagery all worked in unison to give me chills. But it is very strange and it has the tendency to be just as alienating as it is mesmerizing.
  8. “Rubber (2010)” movie review.

What? You say “Rubber” is a movie about a killer tire? I’m sold. A killer tire who causes heads to explode using psychic powers? Name your price and I shall pay it! Those who follow my reviews should know that I am a sucker for bizarre premises. Unfortunately, “Rubber” might be well made, but it thinks it's better than it really is and I’m just not a big fan of arthouse horror.
