1. “Annabelle: Creation (2017)” movie review.

"Annabelle: Creation" boasts excellent editing, cinematography and sound design, but I think it benefited a lot from the eccentric tone. Much like "Lights Out", "Annabelle: Creation" is the fun kind of horror movie, one designed to make the audience shriek and laugh at the same time.
  2. “The Babadook (2014)” movie review.

"The Babadook" is really a terse family drama dressed as a horror flick, although I don't want you to assume that it's not scary. This movie can actually be very terrifying, but it's less about ghosts jumping out at you and more about the psychological deterioration of its protagonist- which is either being caused by the specter or is the cause of the specter.
  3. “Unfriended (2014)” movie review.

"Unfriended" is pretty f@cking stupid, but not as f@cking stupid as the trailers suggested it would be. The gimmick might cause eye rolling, but it is utilized reasonably well and I never grew impatient or disinterested. Yet how can anyone find this scary? The trailers spoil the majority of the kills, the characters are too unpleasant for you to fear for them and the tone rapidly alternates between disturbing and goofy.
  4. “The Lords of Salem (2012)” movie review.

"The Lords of Salem" is either an incomprehensible- but aesthetically attractive- mess which drowns under its own madness, or it's a haunting masterpiece- albeit a flawed one- which manages to drown its audience under its own madness...but in a good way? The arthouse touches, creative scare tactics, spooky sound design and surreal imagery all worked in unison to give me chills. But it is very strange and it has the tendency to be just as alienating as it is mesmerizing.
