1. “A Force of One (1979)” movie review.

"A Force of One" has a pretty cool, if a bit absurd, concept going for it. Who doesn't like the idea of Chuck Norris training police officers to fend off a cop killing serial killer, while he prepares for a climactic fight with Bill 'Superfoot' Wallace?

Hark Tsui genre-bends like mad crazy, so wrapped in this cinematic package is: Mystery, intrigue, thriller, kung fu, politics, horror, fantasy, comedy and even a dash of adventure, as well as romance. Erm, you know what? I think I'm also just going to say it's what happens when you cross "Sherlock Holmes" with "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"...Yeah, I know that makes me a hypocrite, but that's easier to say and I am incredibly lazy.

"Dragon" is the result of what happens if you blend kung fu, a character drama, a police procedural and acupuncture in a single bowl of awesomeness, and then serve it with fine wine and ice cream. The end result? I orgasm all over this meal, ruining it for everyone. Er, wait...Um, I'm going to move on now.
  4. “Julia’s Eyes (2010)” movie review.

This is a difficult feature to review, because part of me wants to praise its ambitions. "Julia's Eyes" wants to be 'more' than just a thriller and indeed, it is a much fuller experience than most of its ilk. It can be tear jerking and heart warming, along with being edgy and frightening. Yet it also sort of collapses under its own weight.
  5. “The Raven (2012)” movie review.

While "The Raven" might not be perfect, I find it startling how severely it was rejected by critics. You'd think that a throwback to a more respected age of horror (the 1960's) that deals with classic literature and puts more emphasis on character than mayhem would be the golden child for the critics. But it wasn't and I feel like I'm the movies biggest fan. It's nothing spectacular, but I do think it's a good movie.
