1. “The Protector 2 (2013)” movie review.

"The Protector 2" (starring Tony Jaa) feels more like a parody of "The Protector" than a sequel. Fans have complained about the sloppy screen-play, the reliance on bad special effects, the lack of Jeeja Yanin ("Chocolate") and the cushioned punches and kicks of the fight scenes. Those are all very correct criticisms. But even when I was agreeing with the detractors, I found myself enjoying "The Protector 2"...even if it wasn't always for the right reasons.

Whether they're taking hits, being knocked off of structures, vehicles, or being in a vehicle that's driving through a structure, everything they do in this movie is amazing and all of them deserve credit for keeping "Born to Fight" enjoyable. You guys not only stole the show, you probably made it in the first place and I take off my hat in respect to your greatness. *kisses*
  3. “The Raid: Redemption (2012)” movie review.

“The Raid: Redemption” has been getting a lot of buzz among us martial arts fans as of late, apparently enough to earn a wide release. I had heard of it before, when it was just referred to as “The Raid”, although I failed to make a connection. It comes to us from the guys who made “Merantau”, a flawed but impressive film in its own right. “Merantau” showcased some spectacular martial arts choreography, but was rather clunky when it tried to be dramatic, tragic or funny. “The Raid” has no ambitions to be anything but the most vicious, badass martial arts film that you've ever seen. So naturally, it was awesome.
