The problem with "Total Recall (2012)" is that after the first 30 minutes, you've pretty much seen everything that this movie has to offer. We've seen all of the different vehicles, weapons, buildings, gadgetry, etc and it starts to get redundant.
  2. “Attack the Block (2011)” movie review.

“Attack the Block” is a sci-fi/comedy/action/horror film from England that stunned everyone by actually being good. Professional and amateur reviewers alike joined together in their praise for the movie, some even calling it one of the 'best action movies ever made'. Naturally, the more hype the movie got, the more I licked my lips in anticipation. Then I saw the movie and was disappointed. “Attack the Block” is a pretty good movie and that might've been a problem. The first wave of viewers had no expectations for the film, so when it turned out to be pretty good, they overreacted and that lead to the movie being over-hyped. Still...pretty good though.
  3. “The Thing From Another World (1951)” movie review

If a movie is remade, sometimes I acquire the original along with the remake and watch them both back-to-back. Just recently, I (re)watched the 1982 cult classic, "The Thing" and followed it up with the 2011 not cult classic, "The Thing" prequel. But what some people don't realize is that the 1982 film was actually a remake of "The Thing From Another World", which the prequel often paid tribute too. As a lover of the 1982 version (indifferent to the prequel), I decided to check this one out and is it good? Sure, but it's only vaguely a horror film.
  4. “John Carter (2012)” review

"John Carter" is one of those movies that can be enjoyed if you go into it with the right mentality. If you just look at it as another conventional epic that's only purpose is to show off some cool special effects, or you want a high spectacle/low plot ratio, then you'll likely find the movie to be agreeable enough. The problem is it should've been more. Armed with a $250,000,000 budget and a lot talent (behind and in front of the camera), it should've bitch slapped us with the golden arm of cinema. But it didn't and in the end, it's just another CGI-fest, high on spectacle and low on everything else.
