1. “Puppet Master 4 (1993)” movie review.

"Puppet Master 4" seems cheaper than previous entries of the franchise, which is strange because it boasts such a high profile concept (killer puppets vs demons). But it's also just a bad movie that finds any semblance of redemption by providing lots of unintentional hilarity. Plus, at least it's very short.

“V/H/S/2” mastered the formula of its predecessor, being incredibly well paced- a rarity for any anthology- and improved the quality of each individual short, while making sure the tone was consistent. It also helps that the film is pretty scary.

“Solomon Kane” is an interesting hybrid of action, fantasy, drama and horror, its presentation being reminiscent of “Conan the Barbarian”. It’s not perfect though. I personally felt it required a bigger budget and it crams too much story into a single movie. Still, it’s a worthy start to what can become a pretty cool franchise.
  4. “Evil Dead (2013)” movie review.

When it came to delivering horror set pieces, I thought “Evil Dead” was above average. It’s not as scary as the original, but...well, that was MY biggest issue. I couldn’t help but compare it to Sam Raimi’s film, which I adore.

I can't say I liked it, because I couldn't stand many of its gimmicks and a few of the stories fell flat. But at the same time, I can't dismiss this either because it can be terrifying and at the absolute least, it is one of the more ambitious examples of its ilk.

It is so by the numbers and conventional that you almost start to wish that it was atrocious, so you could actually feel something about it. Instead, we just have to wallow in its mediocrity. The big shocker is how they somehow roped Kevin Costner into participating in something so blandly forgettable.
  7. “Fallen (1998)” movie review.

What surprises me the most about “Fallen” is that it's one of the few thrillers that managed to get under my skin despite the fact that 90% of the screen-time is dedicated to Denzel (Washington) trying to figure out what we already know.
