"14 Blades" boasts an awesome Donnie Yen, a lively visual style and entertaining action sequences, but it's really awkwardly paced thanks to the bloated narrative. Too much wasted screen-time is dedicated to stuff that doesn't really matter.

Whether I stamp my seal of approval on "Ragnarok" or not, you should consider the possibility that your own definition of 'family friendly' might not coincide with the opinions of Norway, netflix or myself. I was surprised at how scary this monster flick could be, but I can't embrace it as a definite success thanks to its reliance on obnoxious cliches.
  3. “Chinese Zodiac (2012)” movie review.

"Chinese Zodiac" was condemned by the critics for feeling like your conventional Jackie Chan movie, albeit with watered down stunts, gimmicks and fight scenes. I technically do agree with the majority of their points, so why did I have so much fun with it?
  4. “Dynamite Warrior (2006)” movie review.

The fight scenes looked more like rehearsals for the real fight scenes, not the finished product. Eventually, I realized my mistake. I was watching "Dynamite Warrior" under the understanding that it was a martial arts film. In reality, it's a fantasy, adventure, western, comedy that just happens to have (Muay Thai) martial arts. Once I got used to its 'focus', I began to enjoy "Dynamite Warrior", as silly as it could be.
