The "Puppet Master" films were selected for my March Franchise Marathon, which is nice because I was never able to complete these movies...Yet after watching the original, I find myself afraid...and not for the right reasons. The first is supposed to be the best, right?

"Scream (1981)" boldly defied the slasher conventions and sometimes it really works in the films favor- delivering a creepy, thoroughly atmospheric experience. But usually...it's just kind of boring.

"Spookies" can be seen as a fun and spooky creature feature, an unintentionally hilarious example of 'so bad, it's good', an intentionally hilarious send up of creature features or just a bad creature feature which tries too hard to be hilarious. My reluctance to take a side stems from me feeling...well, that "Spookies" is all the above.
