“I Spit on Your Grave 2” might take place in a different country and might have made a few changes to the formula, but once again, it’s just a lot of raping and a lot of torturing. Eventually you’re doomed to become desensitized to the brutality and when that happens, the movie just becomes sort of boring…and I got used to it during the first 30 minutes…

The biggest criticism regarding “When a Stranger Calls (2006)” is that it feels like a 30 minute short that was stretched into a 90 minute feature. There just isn’t enough available material to do a movie about a babysitter receiving creepy phone calls. It gets old rather quickly.

When it came to delivering horror set pieces, I thought “Evil Dead” was above average. It’s not as scary as the original, but...well, that was MY biggest issue. I couldn’t help but compare it to Sam Raimi’s film, which I adore.

When a character touches a door and it ominously opens, what do they do? They trespass onto private property to investigate. Then when the home owner returns, he presumably decided to sneak up on the person as quietly as possible so when they turn around, they will walk right into a jump scare. What's funny is that the movie DOES THIS CLICHE TWICE! TWICE!
  5. “The Thing From Another World (1951)” movie review

If a movie is remade, sometimes I acquire the original along with the remake and watch them both back-to-back. Just recently, I (re)watched the 1982 cult classic, "The Thing" and followed it up with the 2011 not cult classic, "The Thing" prequel. But what some people don't realize is that the 1982 film was actually a remake of "The Thing From Another World", which the prequel often paid tribute too. As a lover of the 1982 version (indifferent to the prequel), I decided to check this one out and is it good? Sure, but it's only vaguely a horror film.
