1. “Event Horizon (1997)” movie review.

There are two ways you can approach “Event Horizon”. You can see it as an entertaining science fiction/horror hybrid that is elevated by its inspired ideas, awesome set designs and creative premise. Or you can view it as an action-horror flick that is frustrating because it squandered its inspired ideas, awesome set designs and creative premise in order to focus on dated CGI and dumbed down action sequences. I wanted "Event Horizon" to be much more than what it ultimately was, but that didn't stop me from having fun.
  2. “Kill Zone- S.P.L (2005)” movie review.

I suppose that instead of criticizing “Kill Zone” for failing to reach its full potential, I should instead focus on how it somehow kept me invested despite sacrificing character development for kung fu, while not having enough kung fu. So I’m going to say that “Kill Zone” is a good movie because of its successes, while its failures keep it from being great.
  3. “The Lords of Salem (2012)” movie review.

"The Lords of Salem" is either an incomprehensible- but aesthetically attractive- mess which drowns under its own madness, or it's a haunting masterpiece- albeit a flawed one- which manages to drown its audience under its own madness...but in a good way? The arthouse touches, creative scare tactics, spooky sound design and surreal imagery all worked in unison to give me chills. But it is very strange and it has the tendency to be just as alienating as it is mesmerizing.
  4. “The Last Winter (2006)” movie review.

When "The Last Winter" works, it really is a very moody, spooky little thriller. The ambiance, the ambitious cinematography, haunting imagery and the strange performances brought some chills down my spine, making me want to love this. Unfortunately, for every kiss it gave me, it also had the tendency to knee me in the groin and I don't find that to be a very erotic experience. When it fails, "The Last Winter" is...bad. Sometimes even very bad.
  5. “You’re Next (2013)” movie review.

During my viewing, my opinions were constantly at war with each-other. Was I watching a bad movie that happened to have flashes of brilliance? Or a good movie which was making some severe missteps? After it was over, I pondered as to what I had just watched. Then I pondered some more. After hours of tearing my imaginary hair out in frustrated contemplation, I came to my conclusion. "You're Next" just wasn't worth stressing out over. It's not a very good movie, in spite of what the critics AND itself seems to think.
  6. “El Gringo (2012)” movie review.

I HATED “El Gringo”. It is one of those special films where everything is so obnoxious that it becomes unnecessary to criticize the braindead love story, the clichéd plot twists, the Mexican stereotypes and the unoriginal story…because there is SO much more to hate about this movie. Scott Adkins, I do still love you, but this sucked.
