1. “Hellraiser IV: Bloodline (1996)” review.

I can only imagine that the studios looked at the (amusing) abomination they created in the form of "Hellraiser 3" and realized they may have lost a potential cash cow with their half baked entry. Like or hate "Hellraiser 4", there is no denying the effort put into it. It's ambitious, sometimes even innovative. However, during production, the studio clashed with the director, who left the project and ended up using the dreaded Alan Smithee pseudonym in place of his own. His film ended up being chopped apart before they even finished the shoot! I'm not sure the movie would've been a classic had the director been around to express his vision, but the pieces that are left of his work are still surprisingly effective.
  2. MOVIE REVIEW: “Hostel (2005)”

“Hostel” is a controversial horror film, but not controversial in the way that most horror films are. It's controversial because the horror fandom is split when it comes to its quality. Is it good? Is it bad? Is it a cult classic? Fans appreciated its originality, violence and tension. The detractors hated the tone, characters and probably were overreacting to the critics positive reaction to the film. I like “Hostel”, but I have no idea why the critics did because at its core, it's just another splatter film.
  3. MOVIE REVIEW: “The Burrowers (2008)”.

Ah, western-horror hybrids, why are you such a rare gem? I ask that question often in my reviews. I'm pretty sure I've ranted about this even when discussing movies that have nothing to do with either genre! It still baffles me how there isn't a single one I know of from the 60's. You'd think that with Gothic horror films and spaghetti westerns flourishing, someone would be like "Hey, why don't we combine these two"? But it didn't happen and all I can do is cry myself to sleep every night. Well peeps, my wait is finally over. "The Burrowers" is here and is everything I wanted out of a western-horror hybrid!
  4. MOVIE REVIEW: “Tremors”.

“Tremors” was a movie I grew up with. My memory is generally hazy when it comes to my childhood, but I distinctly remember being enthralled by the films cover when I went to my local video store. It showcased its three characters looking alarmed as we saw a giant, toothy monster threatening to devour them from the ground. I had to see it, and I ultimately did. The only twang of regret was that the toothy monster never made an appearance, at least that's what I presumed I felt. Honestly, the only thing I can remember was that the movie scared the crap out of me, but also provided a great deal of entertainment. Now that I've revisited the film, I can see why I was so in love with it. It's one of those few films that manage to be scary, exciting, entertaining and funny all at once. I loved “Tremors” as a kid and I love “Tremors” as an adult. So here is my review and I hope you enjoy! - Signed by MartialHorror
