“The Prowler” is at its core, just another slasher flick from the 80’s. Fans of the genre will embrace the awesome gore effects, while detractors will condemn the nonsensical plot. If anything stands out, it’s that this example is more violent AND more nonsensical than the average slasher.
  2. “Halloween: Resurrection (2002)” movie review.

"Halloween: Resurrection" would be an acceptable slasher if it wasn't called 'Halloween', but it is...So it's not acceptable. The movie ends after the first 15 minutes and the remaining hour is just filler. Of all the entries within this 'flawed' franchise, I wish this one didn't exist the most. It's not the worst, but it pretty much killed the franchise.
  3. “The Lords of Salem (2012)” movie review.

"The Lords of Salem" is either an incomprehensible- but aesthetically attractive- mess which drowns under its own madness, or it's a haunting masterpiece- albeit a flawed one- which manages to drown its audience under its own madness...but in a good way? The arthouse touches, creative scare tactics, spooky sound design and surreal imagery all worked in unison to give me chills. But it is very strange and it has the tendency to be just as alienating as it is mesmerizing.
  4. “The Ward (2010)” movie review.

“The Ward” was supposed to be John Carpenters' big comeback, a small horror/thriller that would be a return to his roots. Unfortunately, it was a bittersweet experience as you can see the Carpenter of old occasionally returning, only to be undermined by sloppy writing and questionable direction. “The Ward” isn't bad, but it's not very good either.
